How technology affects our daily lives.

HOW TECHNOLOGY Affects OUR Daily LIVES

Today life without a cell phone, a laptop, or an Internet connection seems really

unthinkable.Tech has infiltrated daily life in so many ways that it's hard to remember the

entire generations found ways to reach others and do their jobs without the technology

innovations we take for granted.

Computers are able to make complicated mathematical calculations at an incredible rate

of speed. When they operate under the instructions of skilled programmers, computers can

accomplish amazing feats. Some high-performance military aircraft wouldn't be able to fly

without constant computerized adjustments to flight control surfaces. Computers performed

the sequencing of the human genome, let us put spacecraft into orbit, control medical testing

equipment, and create the complex visual imagery used in films and video games.
Automobiles are now being manufactured with standard GPS and emergency call features

for the convenience and safety of drivers and their passengers, making the days of carrying

map completely unnecessary and improving the peace of mind of anyone who must travel

the roads alone or at night. Computerized cars are now potentially at risk in much the same

fashion as a personal computer as a moderately skilled hacker can theoretically take over

basic functions of a vehicle - including its engine.

Scholars have been mourning the lost art of conversation for years, and now letter

writing is going the same way. With so many people communicating through email, instant

messaging, text messages and social media, few of us choose to write letters anymore.

Yes, technological advancement has changed our lives completely, and not always in a

good way. Fortunately, there are many people focused on securing our networked

technology and police officers as well as trained hacking and computer programming experts

work to provide safe and secure technology to the masses.

Robots that have been designed for military warfare are also finding purpose in cleanup

efforts of nuclear issues in such applications as at the nuclear energy facility in Japan that

was recently smashed about by the devastating earthquake and tsunami. Because the

nuclear reactors have been damaged and they are emitting radiation, even fully outfitted

hazardous materials teams are at severe risk of radiation contamination within a few

minutes of exposure. Robots are being sent in to clean up the mess, measure radioactivity

levels, and even stream live video feeds for scientists to monitor.

For hundreds of years, newspaper were how most people learned what was happening

across town or around the world. Today, we still crave news but we get most of it online,

instantly and, in most cases, free of charge.
